I have recorded all four greetings for the AA and have assigned them to table one and two. And set only line 1 to use AA (since at night it will be the only one used) When I call in at night and let it ring seven times I still hear...

"This mail box is not initialized and can not receive any messages" then it will kick over to the General Delivery mailbox greeting I’ve recorded. I want to know what mailbox is it reaching first, that is not initialized? I would like it to just play the General Mailbox greeting so during non-business hours people could leave a message that the secretary would get in the morning. Nothing fancy

One of the sets has a FNA set to fewer rings than the A/A. (In "Lines")

If a set has lines that A&R and it has fewer rings set for FNA than the A/A .... its Voice Mail (Not yet initialized) will answer the calls before the A/A gets it.

Also, let's distinguish between AA and General Delivery MB.

The greetings you recorded were for the Auto Attendant, which, as dr.dialtone said, must be set to answer before any of your sets forwards to voice mail if you want that greeting to answer.

If you truly do want the calls to go to the general delivery mailbox, then change the extension assigned to mb 10 (or 100...) to one of your phones. Program that phone to forward no ans to you vm extension at a lower number of rings than any of your other sets, and incoming calls will go there, instead.

There are advantages to using an auto attendant, but if you really want to keep things simple, use the gen del mailbox.

First, thanks for the help!

There are only two terminals that Ring & Appear that will allow you to access the F983. Forward No Answer (FNA) is located where? F983? The third terminal that allows access starts to ring on the fourth ring and I can think that one of these terminals that Ring&Appear has a AA on with a ring that is lower than the GMB. So the AA VM is not initialized? General VM 100 is set to extension 221 and is initialized. Do I have to do anything with the sys VM 102?

OK I wasn't clear, I have made a decision to go with the AA and not just the General Mail box. Mark AA on Line 01 and set the ring to 6 and see if the AA picks up.

FNA = Terminal&Sets/Capabilities/CFNA

To find out what set is not initialized could take some time. Start with the sets that have lines assigned to ring at them, do F980 tio each of those exts to see which one gets you that recording.

AA backup:
AA/lines set each line to Table 1, Answer 3 or 4 rings
Set each sets CFNA to 4 or 6 rings

AA no back up:
AA/lines set each line to Table 1, Answer 0 rings (or 2 if you have Call ID).
Set each sets CFNA to 3, 4 or 6 rings
De-program lines from ringing (make appear only).

Also, not to confuse the issue, but the set that doesn't ring until the fourth ring is probably ringing via DRT to Prime. (under line programming there is a setting for prime set.)

Under System Programming there is a setting for DRT timer. You might want to raise that above the 4 rings it's set to now, as that may be causing some forwarding confusion.

I don’t fully understand thing until I brows around, but you guys are pointing me in the right direction. I found the FNA settings and I am currently creating a spreadsheet of the ext, name, Mailbox, Forward delay, forward ext, I am finding some are set to 4 and other are set to 6 going to three different boxes

Now the DRT is like my bosses phone that doesn’t ring for four rings but then ring so he’ll know if the girls are answering the phones or not?

There are several different ways to route ringing on a set. It could be DRT to prime, Hunt Groups, or call forwarding from another extension making his phone ring.

Effectivly, if it's working the way you want it to, don't worry about how it's getting there. If it's not, then we need to determine exactly what calls need to go where, and how they're getting there now.

I am attempting to access my general voice mailbox and I reset the password because I fogot it. The default password resets to 0000 but when I try to access the mail box it says it is full and will not let me change the default password...i am going in circles? Help
