Norstar FastRAD PWD

I have a FastRAD on an existing system and there is no information on it's user password. Is there a way to reset the RAD to the factory default, or hack into it and change the password?

Remove the battery on the board. Leave it out for a couple of minutes and solder it back on. I have done this several times and it works.

You have removed the batteries in a FastRad?

It's actually a small memory cap, but it acts like a battery to maintain the FastRAD configuration. Just desolder one leg of the cap for 10 seconds then reconnect.

You don't have to remove the battery, just flip the board over and short out the 2 pins for about 30 seconds. This will default the RAD.

When you start shorting out pins and soldering parts you run the risk of smoking the rad. Why not use the rad default explained in faq's.
