Hi this is my first post and was wondering if i can get some help or hints on how to do this.

this is my setup
I want to connect a fastrad to a lantronics UDS110 box so i can access the switch over my network. the problem is when i set this up and try to get in to access the switch through my PC i see the lantronics box try to access the fstrad for a brief sec then it closes the port.

I am using comport redirecter on my pc i have 9600 baud no flow 8 parity setup on both boxes. i can ping the lantronics box with 54ms time(is that to long). Also not sure if i am using the right cable either(null cable as both are DCE).
I can see the DCD leave the lantronics box and then seems like it times out.

I hope this is enough info if not let me know what you need if you can help.

thanks

You need to connect using Norstar Remote Utilitys program it wont connect thru a network.Either dial up or direct connect using a serial connection.

57ms on a LAN seems pretty high so will presume this is off site?.
On the internet I can ping from Toronto Canada to Dallas Texas at about the same.

You need a Standard 9 pin, not a Null or Non-Standard.

Make sure your settings are correct on the RAD also under F9**

So if i understand correct you can't connect to the fast rad over the internet you have to dial in or seiral cable.

With a lantronics box as i understant it is just an extion of my serial cable over a network.

Thanks for the replies

Yes i have the software to connect we are using NRU10
It works fine when connected directly using seial cable.
We have the lantronics boxes in use on other units other than the fastrad and they worked fine so figured that we could use the same setup on the fast rad and have the same succes.

Thanks

I take your launching NRU10 remote utilities, selecting connect via serial connection, and than using comport redirecter to move all communications over to TCP/IP on to the far end UDS1100???

There's likely a compatibility or configuration issue here between NRU10 and comport redirecter or the redirecter and the far end UDS1100. Is the comport redirecter using telnet with the correct TCP/IP telnet port to communicate with the far end UDS1100? The correct telnet is not the TCP/IP telnet standard of 23 but is the port number used by UDS1100(see the manual for this number).

You may have to use a second UDS1100 locally to establish a connection with the far end UDS1100, connect this local
UDS1100 via a serial cable to the computer, and launch NRU10 choosing serial connection. This should work. With the older Lantronix UDS10 a session could be "nailed up" between the two Lantronix units. There may also be a way to establish and end this session as needed.
