I have an opportunity to put a phone (let's say an T7208) or a Norstar Doorphone in a freezer in an icecream factory. the temperature in the freezer is -15 degrees, Fahrenheit.

Will that temperature be a problem. I told myself, well it get's that cold outside where you might have a doorphone.

any ideas

At -15 degrees moisture should not be a problem. I'd be concerned about the conductive rubber buttons inside the phone freezing so hard that the dial pad and switchhook stop working. I'd think a doorphone would hold up better than a phone as there are fewer moving parts.

I have installed simple Trimline 2500 sets in Freezers and have had no issues. I agree with exsmogger. You may have issues with digital type sets in those conditions..

From the Doorphone installation guide....

Check the following environment requirements:
For the Doorphone
Temperature: -35 to 60degrees C (-31 to 140degrees F)
Relative humidity: 5% to 95% non-condensing
Background noise: up to 75 d BA

Defintely stay away from a system phone. The cold will make the buttons brittle. They could very well crack if used in those conditions.

I've also seen LCD problems on the system phones in low temp environments such as yours. I'd stay with the doorphone.
