we need to put a door box on a norstar system. what are the benefits of using the norstar door box over say a Viking W2000 connected to a trunk port. I've used a Viking unit, it connects to a trunk port and causes the trunk to ring.
How does the norstar door box work, what's your opinion?

Called a door phone and works great!
You can have it call a single set and time out to several sets with 5 choices of chimes.

Hi,

I installed one lately and customer just loves it.
If a visitor press the button, the specific set will ring for a few rings. Then if not answered, a chime will sound in the intercom, so that anyone near a set can pickup the receiver, dial the doorphone NA, and talk to the visitor. If he decides to unlock the door, he only has to press the designated key on the phone and the door is immediatly unlocked...

I don't think another door box can offer this convenience...
Don't forget that it comes in 2 parts from Nortel. The door unit and the controller. Then you might need a controlable door latch.

Hope this helps,

Luc
