Can anyone tell me how far I should be able to make a Norstar digital set work from the KSU? I know Nortel has a supported distance and it is more if you use a S.A.P. etc....I am also interested in any "real world" information about how far you have been able to get them to work in a large campus environment assuming that you have straight ca ble pairs with no load coils, oetc..

Also, is there any aftermarket device that would extend a Norstar set a longer distance?

I am trying to go 6,000 ft(about 1 mile)

think 1000 =2000 loop
think 3000=6000 loop
nothing cheap for 6000 =12000 loop for single set.what about an analog over a opx circuit

we had a buch of CC in westchester with saps for maint shops and offices but they were not over specs for the saps. Also any problem we had we were told by nortel that they DID NOT support off premise extensions be they 100 feet or 10000 feet

Are your users grouped such that you could extend a sta mod via MCK fiber extenders to a centralized location, and cross connect from there? Of course, it would require a MM fiber run, but extending over a mile? That won't happen on copper.
