Hello,

I am currently trying to setup a personal lab using an ATA that uses an ampthenol connector to connect to the CO lines of a Norstar 616 and 824.

Are the CO lines non-polarized like the digital sets? If not, would I follow the ATA's designation and connect tip to tip and ring to ring or would I "cross over" tip and ring for both key systems?

Thank you for your time,
Ryan

Any which way but loose!

Thank you, Curlycord! Let's just hope that when I get around to getting it up and running that I punch down correctly.

I wonder if my question above should be considered for addition to an FAQ?

Does the polarity matter for disconnect supervision?

Thank you,
Ryan

The only time that you need to be aware of polarity on analogue trunks is if the Telco is sending to the phone system Earth Calling or Ground Start trunks.

The good thing about Norstar / BCM extensions are that they aren't bothered about polarity. Most of the time any analogue trunks that are connected to the phone system are generally loop calling in the UK.

Hello,

I just wanted to let everyone know that for the 616 I wired the ATA to the on line connectors just like a flat cord would have done (essentially made sure the pins were reversed on each end). I also just took my best guess on the 824 and everything seems to be working fine. Thank you Curlycord and firebirdscrambler for your replies.
