Norstar 4.0 NAM will not play the recorded AA main greeting 1

This is my first post.
My team still supports old norstars and vmails. We have a 4.0 nam that would not play the recorded greeting when answering the main incoming lines. I ran across this 10+ years ago.
It was Feature 983, login PW, 8 = Redirect DN : YES. When the vm answered it would say:
"Please enter your mailbox number and pw and press #".
Changing it back to : NO, it would play the proper recorded AA greeting.
What scenario was this designed for?

This was a bug with NAM when married to MICS 5.0.

Redirect DN I believe was used for Centralized Voice Mail, so the remote end would hear the user/password prompt greeting when checking messages.

Can be disabled by:
F983/88 (NAM 4.1 only,default is disabled)
Norstar Voicemail Manager
Redirect DN Patch
