Hi guys

I have a norstar 0x32 with 12 analogue line on it. The first card works fine (4 lines) in slot 3, the other in slot 4 and in the exp cab only line 2 will work. I have replaced the cards but still get the same problem. I disabled and enabled the cards but still no joy.

Are there any dip switches to move?

Or

Any ideas???

Mrpana.

What is the problem exactly?

Is it that, when you grab the line, you can't hear dial tone?
Is it that, when you grab the line, the display shows "Not in service"?

Have you checked the programming on the set to make sure you are grabbing the expected line?
Have you checked the lines at the demarcation point to make sure the lines themselves are working properly?

Actually, the cartridge in slot 3 (left) is for Lines 031-034. The cartridge in slot 4 (right) is for Lines 001-004.

Only the global analog trunk cartridges have dip switches. What is the part number (beginning with NT) printed on the label of your cartridges?

Sorry yes. I grab the line but don't get dial tone apart from the second port on each card. It dose not say not in service it just hangs waiting without a tone.

I have tested all of the lines connected at the dp and they are ok.

I have checked the lines are assigned to the handset and they run in order 1-4,31-34 and I can't remember the last but it is right. Just get the second line on each card.

This only happened when I tried to replace a poss faulty card and turned the system off then replaced the card.

Thanks for the info on the slots.

The card no is ntbb30aaac all cards are the same.

Thanks. Is there any reason the wiring would be different for the same type of card? Like for like replacement.

I go back in the next few days.

Thanks mrpana

I'll let you know.

I don't see dip switches on the NTBB30AAAC CI trunk cartridge, so you shouldn't have to worry about that.

If you use the same type of card, the wiring isn't different. It could suddenly have become faulty, though.

In your first post, you said that the cartridge in slot 3 (that would be Lines 031-034) worked. You can try to swap the cartridge in that slot with one in another slot. You can also try to move the cartridges into the Trunk Module (TM). If the problem follows the cartridge, then the problem is with the cartridge.

If the problem stays with the line, the problem can be with the wiring. As exsmogger suggested, make sure to check the wiring between the DP and the distribution block, as well as between the distribution block and the ICS or TM. While you are at it, make sure to also check the wiring between the ICS and the TM.

If the problem isn't with the wiring, it is with the ICS or the TM itself.

It sounds to me like your not skipping 2 pairs in between trunks. That is why your only getting the first two trunks. It goes two trunks skip two pairs then two more trunks.
