Hi,

I'm running Norming Asset Management 5.4 SP4 with Accpac 5.4.
I've been trying to create an existing asset according to the help file but it wouldn't let me do it. The point is that I'd like to have the depreciation history for the asset as well. According to the help file this should be possible but I couldn't work it out yet.

Anyone else have done an successful import of existing assets and been able to create the depreciation batch?

I think it starts already having problems if the asset was purchased in 2006 but I wanne enter it now into the system.
I think it only lets you create assets for the same year? Is this correct?

Extract from help file below:

Norming Asset Management provides an easy way to convert the book information of existing asset simply by changing the book last depreciation period back to prior period of the first book depreciation period of the asset. In this way, you just need to define the basic fields, including book depreciation method, book depreciation period, book depreciation start date, book estimated life, book depreciation rate if required, book value and book salvage value for an existing asset. All the other fields for the asset will be automatically updated by creating a book depreciation batch covering the depreciation history from the first depreciation period to the last depreciation period.

If you want depreciation history then you need to setup your assets as at some point in the past and run depreciation for every period since then. Otherwise enter your assets as Existing assets and enter the depreciation values.

Hi ettienne,

thanks for your reply.

Have you got depreciation history for your assets?
Are you able to enter an asset with a transaction date from 2008 which, for example, has been purchased in 2006 (acquisition date) and a life of 3 years?

I hope you didn't mean I have to run depreciation separate for each month from 2006 to 2008 and it can't be done all at once?

If you enter an asset purchased in 2006 in the year 2008 then you will not have depreciation history. You cannot have it both ways.
