In InDesign there is a feature called "Nonbreaking Space" (Type>Insert White Space>Nonbreaking Space).

This is the proper way to force a line break (as opposed to a soft return) - the benefit being that if your text is to reshuffle at some later point, you will not end up with strange line-breaks, as you would if you had used forced a soft return.

Is there any Nonbreaking Space feature in Illustrator?

Thanks!

parker:

Use area type (With the type tool, click and drag out a rectangle, and type inside of it). The type area will force line breaks at the end of the area. Hope that does what you're looking for.

Sorry Itchy, that's not really what I mean.

If you were to re-adjust the text box later, then all of your linebreaks would re-flow. The idea of the non-breaking space is to retain combinations of words, even after altering text boxes, adjusting fonts etc.

Thanks anyway.

OK shows you how much I know about typography jargon.

Highlight the text you want to stop from breaking, and from the character palette flyout select "No Break".
