Hello

I have the MSExchMasterAccountSID problem on multiple mailboxes that I think is responsible for affecting my ArcServe bricks level backup (among other issues). I know I can use the NoMAS tool to fix it but this is only available by contacting Microsoft Support.

The problem is, they seem to have changed the system recently and you can only ask them for the patch after you have given your credit card details. I can't give them any credit card details but I won't be charged anyway because it will be classed as an Exchange bug. Does anyone know how I can contact Microsoft for this tool without having to give credit card details? Or does anyone have it that can pass it onto me?

Thanks for your help.

Hi, I have just managed to get hold of this tool. Did you have any luck?

Cheers

Hi!

You can determine how many disabled user accounts do not have the msExchMasterAccountSid attribute and generate an msExchMasterAccountSID attribute manually as described here:

which is definitely not a nice approach if you have many affected accounts.

You can use a script as described here:

I haven't tried this script. If I have a minute today or tomorrow I'll give it a try and will post the results.

Thanks for the replies.

I have not had any luck in getting the NoMAS tool yet. Any chance you could post a link so I could download it? Did you get it from Microsoft? Did you need to enter credit card details? If not, how did you contact them?

I have to say the tool looks simpler than the articles you mentioned (which I had already come across) because it is specifically designed to fix the problem I have and is easy to use.

Thanks for your help!

Right,

If you look at this article,

you will see the current developer is Dave Goldman

Put "Dave Goldman Microsoft" into google and you get..

Click on Contact and ask him very nicely to send it to you. Bear in mind he is based in the states ;-)

If you have no luck, post back and we will sort out a way to get it too you.

Have to say PSS were very unhelpful when I tried.

Good lateral thinking there, thanks for the suggestion.

Emailed him and he was happy to send the tool! Just hope it fixes my problem.

Thanks for the help.

Good to hear you where able to get the tool. Dave is a very talented person. Did he send you any additional information about the tool? I happen to have a Whitepaper available if you would like it. It is my personal copy and I am not sure where I got it but it certainly is public material if you are interested.

He didn't send any additional info but I have read a few articles around the web for how to use it. I'm sure I will be fine when I get round to using it sometime this afternoon. Thanks anyway.

It's changed somewhat from back in 2003 when Alex wrote it. Instead of the somewhat cryptic (one of those "you had to be there" things) 228423 radio button, it now says resynchronize. Looks like container selection is now a reality.

It's nice to see that communities are still supported. It's also nice to see the exchange queue participating.

I just happen to run into this place on my own time. I am glad I am able to help a bit where possible.
