Hi there.

I have a rather strange issue with an Avaya Partner II system. Sometimes, when a line is picked-up during the first ring (even if transferred) there's a brief modem-like noise burst that is not heard by the caller but only on the receiving phone. This happens intermittently and is driving some employees nuts when they pick-up the phone! There's no fax on the line. There aren't any alarm or other lines associated with it. We do have FIOS but only for the internet. The phones are still copper and are not connected with the FIOS service.

I'm thinking it could be the Caller ID being transmitted to the phone but not certain. Again, it only happens randomly.

Has anyone experienced this noise burst? Any idea what might be causing it? Also, the auto attendant is not activated on the system during the day. Thank you very much!

Hey Tommy. Thanks so much for your quick reply. Is there anyway to remedy this issue short of turning off the Caller ID?
