I have a dell 1600SC poweredge that absolutely refuses to emit a video signal. I have tried using the integrated video port; I have added a PCI video card (very basic Diamond 3D 2000); have swapped out the motherboard with another motherboard that I know works. Nothing seems to trip this machines trigger. Has anyone else ever experienced such a thing? About the only thing I haven't tried is actually swapping out the CPU itself. Could it be a bad CPU? Will the CPU failing the POST tests cause the VIDEO to not emit a signal? I'm not the world's final authority on how POST tests work so any input would be more than I already know.

Thanks for any help.

SlimJohnD - thanks for the reply. It actually was a bad CPU. I swapped it with one from another machine I had in a remote site and lo and behold, the silly thing passed right thru the POST and booted. Ain't life grand!!!

Again, thanks for your reply, I appreciate it.

That's what it was on my system. Once I plugged in a working CPU, everything worked.
