No video or keyboard after installing new MB

I just installed an Abit NF-7 motherboard with Kingston PC-2700 Ram (2x256mb), and a Western Digital Caviar 80Gb HD, and can't get any video or the keyboard to kick on after power-up. I have checked the CMOS jumper to be sure I moved it into the correct position, and re-checked my connections. It almost seems that the system wants to boot up, but just as the screen and keyboard look like they are about to turn on, nothing happens. I have a PNY GE-Force 4, Ti-4200 AGP 64mb video card that worked perfectly in its previous system, so I don't think that's the problem. There is power going to all components also, yet no video and no lights kicking in on the motherboard.
Does anyone have any ideas on what this might be?

Just the usual, remove the mobo from the case and set up on the table (the box the mobo came in is perfect). Plug in the Power Supply, CPU, video card, and memory and see if you get a POST. If so, you probably have a mounting post shorting the mobo.

I appreciate the tip regarding a possible mobo short. Unfortunately, that wasn't it. You must be on the right track though, as Newegg.com wants me to send the board in for a swap out. I hope that solves the problem. If not, I'll be back! Thanks.

After many years, I got in the habit of putting a bare system together on the table and check it before all the work of putting it in the case.

I'm always willing to pick up some good pointers...from now on the board gets tested outside of the case. If you don't mind, I may contact you the next time I feel stumped.
