The computer turns on. No video. checked memory in another puter. Swapped vid cards. No bios beeps. Any troubleshooting suggestions??

Andre

Try to reset your bios by releasing the AC power cables and the Mobo battery, leave it for 10 mins then try again.
Good luck,

Wiggle the AGP board. Video on(sometimes). But system freezes at random. Tried reloading windows. Blank HD. It won't get through. First time it started running setup. But after hanging and reboot. it usualy would lock up shortly into setup. Video problem causing this. Bad MOBO. If I change MOBO how do I load windows from my original startup disk. It asks for a Gateway computer??

Can you use an alternate video card to test the computer? When a computer starts it checks the first 16mb of memory & then the video as its first operations, then it checks the rest of the memory.

Are you seeing the memory count-up?

If not, then you either have duff memory or a duff video card.

I have tried a second video card. Problem is intermittent. I put the mem sticks in another computer and ran for a couple of weeks and also ran a memory test on it. Mainly now the computer locks up shortly after starting

Have you checked the cooling fans? You will probably have one on the microprocessor and you may have one on the video card. Check that they are going at full speed.

Your problem is more than likely bad capacitors on your mobo or a failing power supply.

what mobo do you have? if the jumper settings are wrong for the cpu you will get a boot and no image @ all...AMD cpu board by chance?

the only right answer to "why?" is: "why not?"
