I cant get video on one of the domain controllers.
but is still connected on the network and can browse and ping it from any machine on the network.
I first checked all cables and even changed the monitor.
I forced a shutdown and changed the video card but that did not solvethe problem.
I suspected memory so I changed the memory from even 512 to
1gb and that resolved the issue.
This morning, I came to the office and the monitor is black nothing can be seen but I can browse and ping that dc from any machine on the network.
There are no errors in the event so I really cant figure out what is causing all these problem
Any help

Hmmm...this is a sticky one. The fact that the RAM change made a difference might be coincidental. Have you tried changing PSUs? I just had a machine last night where the onboard NIC disappeared after replacement of PSU. I reseated everything, blew out the machine, then vigorously shook the machine to release any embedded crud behind the MB. Worth a shot...

I would remove the original memory dimm, leaving the new dimm in place. If you are using a PCI video card (unlikely but possible I guess) try a different PCI slot.

Try using different memory slots one of the slots may be bad.

I would not shack the PC as PC parts such as Hard drives do not like that. Purchase a can of compressed air. They are cheaper than a new hard drive.

I don't know if reseting hardware such as memory or modems etc would help. However reseting the CPU, Memory and Video card may help.

Also if your chip set on your mobo has a fan on it make sure it is working and free of dust. Same thing on the video card, make sure the chipset fan if any, are working and free of dust.

If it can't take it, I don't want it!

Actual reason was I heard a screw behind the MB. Got it out.

Most hard drives can take a fair amount of abuse. I have put some through some abuse. But when you consider that the head is so close to the platter that a piece of paper would not fit between them, no need to put them thru ore abuse then necessary.

Like a I said $5.00 for a can of air or $100 for a new hard drive or more.

I would shut down and pull the plugs on everything for about 5 min. or so. Then boot it up....

Thanks you guys.
It appeared the video was the problem and it was my fault.
I used old one I had in the office and may be as a coincident, it workded with the memory that I replaced but since that video was bad, it did not solve the problem.
I bought a new 256mb pny tech nvidea video and even used another new memory and since friday up to this time, everything is working fine.
I suspect the video was behaving like cancer affecting the memory
