No * to program? 2

I need to remove the static IP info on a 4610 but when the phone boots up it says 100mbs ethernet but not star to program. I tried to SET PROCSTAT 0 but still no star to program. WTF!!
 
Set the procpassword with something you want and see if it comes back.

Just curious if there was there a resolution to this problem? I am having the same issue with 56xx phones. Setting procpassword to another number didn't resolve it. The phone does not seem to recognize the mute key input.

Still haven't figured it out. Unfortunately I've been in the road and haven't has time to trouble shot the issue. I will defiantly post the resolution once I find it. Let me know if you find something!

Well I fixed it. I went into the 46vpnupgrade.scr file and changed the file from the VPN load to the regular bin file which forced it out of VPN mode. At that point I regain access to the * to program.
 
Great but I have two phones that require VPN firmware but once I load them up in my office I can't change IP settings to send to a customer. I also have a customer that has fifty 5610 phones on non-vpn firmware and none of the phones have * to program.
 
When it does not show the * then edtit the 46xxsettings.txt
Put in a password you like.
When the phone is done booting then enter password, clear and #
Then put in a default 46xxsettings.txt before the phone asks for it and you are done.
Then it will be back.
After putting vpn software on it, it is gone again.

I now have this issue for the first time, have read tlpeters reply above but am not sure what it actually requires. Im setting up a 5610 as a VPN phone, but need to * to program to change the group and also then to change the call server address.

Ive tried altering all trypes of files but nothing seems to be working.

Any help greatly appreciated.

But you change the group before loading the VPN firmware, or at least you should, at which point you can also set the call server :)

I changed the group to 876 and then rebooted, I think I stupidly then put the remote call server address in the IP address information before I had programmed the VPN. When I then rebooted the phone logged into my local system. After trying different files (default ones, edited ones) Ive now got the phone booting up and saying Discover 192.168.42.1

Does anyone think a completely fresh set of files will help?

LOL - in your 46xxsettings file

SET PROCSTAT 0
SET PROCPSWD " "

Once uploaded from your TFTP it should allow you press * to program

Right well I have stuck that in, now the phone is on a reboot cycle.

Boots and loads the x10d01a2_3.bin file
Then DHCPs
Then Then then
Every now and again it will say -905 after one or more of the http requests and try to TFTP the files, but then reboots and does the same thing again and again and again.

We are using MV-IPtel for the TFTP/HTTP files, might try manager.

Right think I've got it

I had - SET PROCPSWD " " with a space, removed the space leaving "" and the * to program returned.

Will see if it lets me set it up now.

Why is life never simple. So I was able to get the * to program back and was able to default the phone and change it to group 876.

On a reboot it then wouldn't pick up the VPN files, so I changed my files back to the ones that worked previously (ie for the VPN phone I setup 30 minutes before I started trying to do this one) and the * to program disappeared again and it still wouldnt pick up the VPN firmware.

I added the PROCSTAT and PROCPSWD lines to the front of my VPN modified 46xxsettings file and still no joy.

I think I must have changed/replaced every possible file now - even noticed it was looking for a 46xxvpn.scr file which I dont seem to have.

Never had this many problems with VPN phones before - would love a step by step guide for getting them working from a fresh install of manager, so I can try and work out where I am going wrong.

Sorted - when I cleared the files out to start again I forgot to reput the ones from the VPN zip folder in my HTTP/TFTP server.

VPN firmware now loaded :)

And Ive managed to break it again lol

Setup the VPN but no callserver address, rebooted and noticed no * to program again, so unable to set a call server address.

Re-added the PROCSTAT and PROCPSWD lines to 46xxsettings and no different. Set VPN to disabled on the phone and it now doesnt try to pick up any files (just boots with the VPN firmware) and goes to the normal extension login screen.

So anyone got any ideas how to set a phone to group 0 when there is no * to program and HOLD CLEAR does nothing?

Also how do you reactivate VPN status when a phone has VPN programming on it but someone has set VPN mode to disabled?

Cant wait until we stop using 5610s for VPN phones and just do 9620 ones.

Pepp, you are doing it all back to front, set up the handset with the correct extn number and call server etc as though it was a normal internal handset first, then change the group and allow it to become a VPN phone, that's how I do it and it tends to work :)

what andy said. I find registering it on your own in house / lab switch to the extn you need first works much better.
