Some of our DELL computers don't bring login screen which
enables to log on to NT network.to be connected to the network I should simply log on to the PC then log off this time i get the right login screen. What is the matter?

the workstations are win 98 and DELL optiplex .

thanks. Why you worry? Life is too short to worry.

Right click on Network Neigborhood, Choose Properties, and change Windows Logon to Client for Microsoft Networks. You may also need to Check and enter the Domain under Client for Microsoft Networks.

I did all that before I post the message. We have about 70 computers only some DELL computers face the problem however the network works well even with these pc's only initial login screen.

thanks for your response Why you worry? Life is too short to worry.

This has happened to me many, many times in the past. First try removing the *.pwl files and rebooting. If that does not work, try removing TCP-IP in network properties, and re-installing it. (Remember to write down the IP address Gateway, WINS and DNS information.) If that does not work, make sure you do not have an (!) on the card in Device manager. This could mean a conflict or not all of the drivers for that hardware are getting loaded. If that is OK, try deleting everything out of the network properties and re-loading it. If that does not work, try uninstalling and re-installing the NIC card drivers. Try to get the latest drivers from DELL or the web. Then, of course you will need to re-add all the network properties.

...another thing to check

Make sure Autologon isn't set in the registry....

Good Luck,
Chris
