NO SOUND

I HAVE NO SOUND ON MY COMPUTER. I HAVE A GATEWAY AND THEIR TECHNICIANS CANT HELP ME BECAUSE THE PROBLEM OCCURED AFTER AN AOL VIRUS. MY SPEAKERS WORK AND ARE PLUGGED IN PROPERLY I WENT INTO THE START MENU UNDER SETTINGS AND CONTROL PANEL THEN UNDER SYSTEM AND DEVICE MANAGER AND PERFORMANCE AND IT SAYS PC CARDS (PCMCIA) NO PC CARD SOCKETS ARE INSTALLED. I CAN HEAR MY COMPUTER DIAL UP MY MODEM BUT NO OTHER SOUND PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE.

At device mangler (inside joke) remove any references to sound and joystick items. Reboot machine and see if they will reinstall correctly. May or may not.
