Hi,

I have windows xp pro installed on desktop Thinkcenter M series.
I cannot play any music from pc. When I installed for first time, it's was working. But after, two weeks it's stop working.

I think this not problem driver because when I plug headphone, there is a sound.

Any advice are welcome.

Thank you.

Have you checked in Device Manager to see if there is any yellow exclamation points or question marks? While in there, what does it show under Sound/Audio Devices?

Do you have built in speakers on your monitor or separate speakers? Have you tried new speakers?

Have you installed any codecs or Audio related programs since then? Does a system restore work?

"Silence is golden, duct tape is silver...

No there is not a yellow exclamation points/question mark
It's a built in speaker on pc .... not in monitor...
I do not tried plug any speaker but when I plug headphone on the computer... there is sound.

The computer is not mine and I am tech for business company.. but when I verify on pc add/remove program there is not strange app installed then what I had installed for first time.

As I told you, I had installed Os for user and when it was installed there was sound for first 2 weeks as user told me.

I did not did any restore yet...
(vlc, media player are installed...)

Thnak you,

Did you check in Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices and make sure the settings are correct and pointing to the desktops embedded speakers?

"Silence is golden, duct tape is silver...

Also, though it may seem obvious, be sure the volume control is up full and the sound has not been muted.

Have you gone to lenovo's website and downloaded the correct driver? generic and drivers for the correct chip do not work on the Lenovo machines. It needs the drivers from the website, and sometimes the windows updates, will over write the driver. You need to download the latest from Lenovo and install the correct drivers.

I am doing all the test possible and I will tell you guys if it' works or not.

By the way, @Turkbear Yes the sound is enable, that's when I plug headphone, I can hear the sound.

Thanks

Hi,
Some systems have separate settings for headphones and speakers, that's why I asked if you had checked ( both the volume control and any mixer that your sound card has)

Interesting, Its a bit sly of them if they are. I've never experienced any add-ware from CNET myself.

Anyway

Drivermax can also be downloaded from the developers site which might be your better option if you want to try cloning the drivers.

Sorry for the delay, I got the time to say you that the problem was on the speaker and so I replace it, everything is smooth now.

Anyway, thank you all for your kind help.
