Help... My laptop doesnt play sound.. i cant remember what was the last program that i installed when it loss its sound but i just noticed after a while that my MP3 doesnt work.. and i couldnt find the "Volume Controller" anywhere.. I tried removing the Sound Driver (Crystal SoundFusion(tm) CS4281 WDM audio) and the auto detect of windows 98SE installed it again upon boot-up.. Hope somebody could help .. I would appreciate it.. Thanks!!

Don't ignore the obvious...the sound slider/volume control on the case is turned up?
(seen that too many times to discount it)

If it isn't the obvious, have you checked in control panel to see if it was installed and is working properly?
Look for those yellow exclamation marks.
Are mp3s the only sound files that do not play? Have you tried some simple wav files?
If there are any, disable the legacy sound devices. ~Apex1x

Hey thanks guys for the response... my laptop doesnt have a slider volume... but it has a functional buttons for volume up and volume down.. i tried pressing it but no response.. Wav files doesnt work too.. the play button is not "active" not clickable ... when i run sndvol32.exe nothing happens... its supposed to be the volume controller right.. tried downloading new sndvol32.exe .. but still the same.. i also tried downloading a new driver for the "Crystal SoundFusion CS4281 WDM" Sound Device and replaced the old one but still the same.. When i tried running Sound Recorder .. an error pop up "Sound Recorder Cannot Record or Play because a Sound Device is not installed. To install a sound device, Click Add New Hardware on Control Panel." I tried removing the "Crystal SoundFusion" on the Device Manager .. and Add New Hardware .. but it just re-detects the Crystal SoundFusion again.. oh and btw ..Device status says that "the device is working properly".
I would advice myself on re-installation of the Operating System .. but is there any other way??? Thanks again for the help.....
