NO
I have a problem with internal calls.
When calling internally with the extn. number only (here 5 digits) the call sets up and works fine.
BUT if I call internally using the full public number (8 digits)the call sets up, but there is no sound either way.
What is the problem? Where does the sound stop.

Eppeboy.

if you're using the full public number, it's not an internal call anymore.

What type of trunk(s) do you use? What type of phones? (IP/Digital/etc..)

Calling out to numbers outside the range is no problem. It works fine. Also inncomming calls works fine. [ponder]

It's a provider thing, Hipcom/BT trunks do the dame thing here or actually block the call, it isn't something they think you should do, and they are right :)

Bullshit amriddle :)
It should not matter at all what number is dialed.
Providers should be capable to do this.
I have never seen a provider not allowing this.
If they cannot do this then the provider is a very bad one.

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I promise you it's not, I can probably dig out the fault report and email reply from Hipcom if you like, they don't support calling your own DDI's from a SIP DDI :)

Seriously?
That would be really amateurishly and then it looks like somebody tried to build his own provider stuff.
I would avoid such providers to be honest.

I suspect its more to do with tromboning / hair-pinning the traffic out then in on the same firewall...

Some / Many firewalls dont always allow this type of connection. Its actually more the SBC at the far end like Andy suggests, its all to reduce excessive traffic

Sorry Peter, you are wrong this time! :)

I am not. A provider should be able to route a DDI properly.
It should use two channels, one out and one in and that is it.
If a provider can not do this then there setup is wrong.

Unfortunately our opinions have little bearing on providers services :)

I know :)
Providers are like thick mud.
