Hi

I believe that there should be a shut down menu within the task manager which allows you to properly shut down a pc through a remote desktop connection. This menu is missing from all the machines I use and I would like it to be there. Any advice is welcome.

My task manager doesn't have that menu.

Have you tried sending Ctrl+Alt+Supr or throught the Start menu?

Cheers,
Dian

Or when you're logged in remotely you can go to the run command and type in:
shutdown -r -f -t 00
That'll do it as well.

From "Diancecht's" link.....

"Sounds like to me you are using Classic Logon. When using Classic Logon the
Task Manager will not show the Shut Down menu.

To verify what type of Logon you are using, go to the Control Panel > User
Accounts > Change the way users log on or off. If the Welcome Screen is not
checked then you are using the Classic Logon, there for no Shut down menu
will not be present for the Task Manager."

I have the Shutdown menu in Task Manager running on XP SP2. I use the Welcome Screen for logons not the Classic logon box.
