I just installed the debian base distro xandros. I could get i to find my 2 SCSI CDROMS.
So i had to install from an image on the HD instead.

But that leaves me with a linux without cdroms. KDE control centre tells me that there
are NO SCSI devices detected. Duh.

How can i get these detected by linux.

I had the same issue with XP. There i was able to add IRQ and IO address via the system settings.

Does your kernel suppport your SCSI card and your SCSI CD-ROMs? //Daniel

Yes it does. This is what i got so far

Because my 2 scsi cdroms on a aha152x controller where not detected, i had
to install xandros ( debian based ) via
an iso image my HD. Now it is installed but offcourse the 2 cdrom are not
found either.

I did a "insmod aha152x aha152x=0x140,10,7" and now the controller driver
gets loaded and it sees the 2 cdroms
when i issue a "cdrecord -scanbus".

But the devices for mount the cdroms are still missing. I only have the
generic /dev/sg0.

I did some googling and found i had to load sd_mod and sr_mod. But mounting
on /dev/sd0 just seg. faults.
I guess i am close to a solution but missing some crusial step.

What modules need to be loaded ( and how can i load them at boottime ) ?
And how can i mount the 2 cdroms

I've found scsi modules to be a major pain in the ass. I've only ever gotten everything to work right by compiling it into the kernel directly, you may try that, if that's an option for you? I don't know, but the modules are crappy ass.

One suggestion - do NOT use SCSI ID 0 (zero) for anything.

I have seen more than one installation of Linux, most recently Xandros, appear to work but fail to boot up sucessfully when SCSI ID of 0 was used. It hangs on the Xandros splash screen. Changing the SCSI ID to 1 or 2 and not using 0 for any of the SCSI devices cleared up the problem.
