Hi All!

I have an Opt 61C that I added an analog line card in a cabinet that has never had one. I am not getting the ring generator out of it. The Ring Generator is good because I swapped it to another cabinet that has analog cards and it works. I also swapped out the analog card, and it is good as well. Where could the problem be?

Check the power supply.

If Bill Gates had a nickel for every time Windows crashed... Oh wait, he does...

That problem appears when the connector between two modules is not correctly locked. Have a look on it. You may reach it from inside the IPE Shelf.
I had this problem twice....

I checked the power connector, it is seated properly, what else might it be?

Hi,
it seams that you do not have a ringin generator in that IPE module, it is a NT8D48, look at the left hand botom, of the module, you should see a Lable: Rng Gen, if that slot is empty, you then will know, why your analog phones are not ringing.

regards

Fritz

Are you getting any ring voltage at all? Like someone said earlier you can try the power supply or try moving the analog card to a new slot.

When you install the ring generator do you get a green led on it when you power it up if not there may be a wiring problem in the colume if this was a ipe module that was just added do the shelves below this one work

if all the cables (backplane) are tight and the ring gen is good, then the backplane took a hit, replace the ipe or backplane. the ipe is much faster. if you have a green light, then rule out the cables. the faceplate switch had a habit of going bad on dc ps years back, but i only ran into backplane problems after lightning

You could also try backing ou the XSM in that column if the green led is out, do you have a cabinet alarm?

What is the "XSM", and yes, I do have a cabinet alarm.

Definetly, the problem is the red connector between the 2 IPEs. Check it and be sure it is fermly locked
