Hi,

We have a new BCM 450 on the bench ready for install all ok except for one thing.

Its running 8.0.1.05.329 with the latest patches. CallPilot version 44.01.00.22

When dialling in to the trunk interface, Call Pilot answers correctly, the basic CCR trees work as designed, you can dial through to an extension or to leave a message in a Guest mailbox etc...but if you dial ** to access a mailbox, you are greeted with total silence. No request for a mailbox number or password. Just no response. Can't dial through the silence or anything.

PSTN Centrex trunks on a GATM 8

The system's country code is North America, so I don't think its a dial 88 (UK) problem.

Any ideas ??

Disable the Call Pilot Interface in "configuration","General Properties" and make sure that all mailboxes uses "NVM interface".

Thanks for the suggestion gb, but that didn't solve the problem

This is just a shot in the dark but given the fact that you are being greeted with silence indicates the system is performing the function, just not giving the default prompt. Is it possible that someone mistakenly recorded custom prompts over the default but did it incorrectly? One way to test it would be to just enter your mailbox/password combination and see if the system sends you there.

Just a thought.

Definitely a shot in the dark, but worth a try, however, as I said above, there is no response to dialling anything in the period after the ** is dialled. This includes a mailbox/#/password/#/ combo or mailbox/password/# etc.

But anyway, for future reference, how does one change (or check) the default CP system prompts on the BCM series ?? (I'm an Avaya tech, its easy on the IPO, just locate the .wav on the voicemail server, listen to it with Media Player, rename, re-record, replace etc.

_______________

I've checked the CP event log.(Dial in enter ** then dial the mailbox/password combo)
It shows the ** event,
the "Login Mailbox" response,
a PLAY VOICE FAILED event,
misses the next two DTMF entries (the mailbox number),
then shows most of the password entry

At this stage I think a reinstall is called for..lets hope there isn't a bug in this latest release...

Thanks

Just to round this thread off, I couldn't spend any more time on this so I gave it the old Level 2 and patched it back up to the latest but one software release.

I also noticed the missing voicemail beep (see a later thread) and had difficulty loading hold music through Music Manager..all these things tend to suggest a common system audio issue. I guess time will tell.

The only out of the ordinary thing i didn't mention before was that the extn DN's started at 6000 (for compatability with another numbering scheme.
