computer won't boot, so tested power supply(works fine) kept it unplugged from motherboard , took out the cmos battery, and took out the memory...waited 30 seconds, reseated the memory put the cmos battery back in, plugged in the power supply to the motherboard...and as soon as i plug the power cord into the power supply "it comes to life" reset the cmos to default, the operating system loads , I shut down the computer and bang no power til i do that procedure all over again, any help would be appreciated....

I would try a new power supply, it sounds like the one you're using is on the way out....

I would start with a process of elimination. When going through the process, leave the memory and battery in, and just unplug the power supply. If that works, it may be a problem with the power supply. If it doesn't do the trick, then just pull the memory and power supply, leaving the cmos battery alone. By pulling everything at once, it may be making it more difficult to narrow down.

I recently had a power supply that wouldn't boot one out of five times. Drove me crazy. The really sick part? It was in the ex-wifes computer!

Hi there,

Unfortunately I think that you have to change the M/B,

Best,
