Hey Guys,
I want to backup the System State data on a remote server (Domain Controller).

I just installed the trial version of the BAB Client for Windows on the Domain Controller. (by the way, is there a difference between this and the Client for Windows SERVERS--I'm confused, I think they are the same thing).

When I go to Backup in the Manager, and expand network, the machine I want, etc., there is no option for System State.

I installed the BAB software more than 30 days ago, (the main S/W, not the client) do you think the reason I don't get the option is that the trial period is over?

I don't want to buy the client agent until I've seen it work.

Thank you!

Andrew

There is only the one Client Agent, and it is for windows server or profesional.

Sounds like it is connecting via network and not the client agent.

Thanks for the info.

In the backup selections tree, I chose the node for "network" and drilled down until I got to the machine I want to backup. Then, I right clicked and selected "Use Agent." I went in and selected "Computer Name Resolution" and hit Ok. Then it prompted for my login info, and I entered the info for the service account it runs under. Then the dialog box dissapears and I'm right back in the tree where it shows:

Server Name:
C$
D$
Sysvol

Did I miss anything obvious? Should I go through another branch in the tree if I want to use the client agent, or is network/use client agent the way to go?

I actually have read all of the docs I can find, but none of them really seem to go into detail.

Thanks,
Drew

Right click Windows XP/2000/2003 systems, choose 'use auto discovery' or add the agent by choosing 'add machine'.
Now you are looking at the client agent which will show you the C and D volume and the System State
