We had PcAnywhere on our NT server, but we upgraded to W2K server over the weekend. I'm not sure why but PcAnywhere isn't there now, but How do I log into the server now, other than walking down to the computer room and logging in directly.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have a w2k pc. I was told that WinXP has a remote dial in option, but unfortunately I don't have XP.

Thanks,

Tracyw

As far as the original question goes, it may depend on your version of pcAnywhere. Only pcAnywhere 9.2 and above is supported by Windows 2000. Since you upgraded, it may have seen your version as incompatible and removed it.

yes Glen, it's a draw lol
i actually found a crack for radmin and tried it out first, then i love it, so i bought it

as far as PCSomewhere goes, it is piece of crap
some software i tried to run like Nero, it will not work properly, i have a buddy who works as a top tech in a ISP and been using PCAnywhere for years.

till i showed him radmin, he went and bought a wack of it and resell to his customer and use it to fix problem remotely.

If you guys don't try what i recommend, i don't why you are in IT business, because we are opened to try new way/software to improve life in IT

Just to let you all know, I setup the terminal services client and it works great for my current needs.
Thank you all for the input.

If the boss doesn't pay for it, I'm not going to. Me, I'm always open to trying out new technology. Matter of fact, I've had to f-disk 3 times because of new technology. (Not kidding!)

[lol]

I tell him what I've found, and tell if we should or shouldn't try it, and he makes the final call. We'll see. Enjoy the holiday!

OK, guess i didn't notice because i am the head guy. lol

try at home to see if you like radmin

I would not touch any freeware software if your servers are in a production environment. This is just begging for trouble. Terminal services works well for me, and is supported/updated by Microsoft directly. It's always nice to have someone to yell at when things go haywire. Whatever you choose, make sure you have technical support for it.
