Hello all,

I often get this error:

Storage device "QUANTUM 1" reported an error on a request to read data from
media.

Error reported:
No more data is on the tape.

Jimmyc,

I am faced with the same problem. I am using HP Surestore DLT 80e drives. I have tried swapping drives, Changing SCSI adapters and SCSI settings with no success. If you come up with a solution, let me know.

I'm facing the exact same problem. I've went through the Veritas knowledge base, but found no real answers there. They blame most read errors on faulty tapes and suggest to use new ones. They also add the advice to go through about 4 consecutive cleaning cycles to clean the tape drive heads.
Another suggestion is to erase the tape before running the backup.
I hope this information helps you out.
If anyone finds a more permanent solution for this problem, by all means post it here. Thanks.
