Bcm 450 r6, i2002 telephone will not light message waiting lamp from voicemail. Lamp can be lit from extension to extension dialing and using the send message feature. Mailbox is set to Y for message waiting. Deleted mailbox and rebuilt. Lamp still does not light up after leaving message. Will try another phone but I don't think the phone is defective.

What about the MSG or Message For You on the display?
Is the system patched so it can provide the latest firmware to the IP sets?

When you have no spare on hand I might have tried putting the same mailbox behind another set on site such as courtesy to test.

I would blame the set if all others on site work but maybe restart the "voicemail" service from EM in case CP is glitching.

I use an old i2002 connected remotely to Firebird's system in the UK and the message waiting lite works fine when a message is left. I would echo curlycord's suggestion to check that the system is patched. Also upgrade the i2002's firmware if needed.

I believe it is fully patched. I will try another phone.

Another phone, no good.

I deleted the mailbox. I changed the extension to a different extension so that the extension I need was not Active or Inactive. Did not exist. Applied a new extension to the phone, then changed DN back to the one I needed. Then Added the mailbox, initialized the mailbox. Still no light, no message for you on the screen. Two different phones same firmware downloaded from the BCM 450 R6.

Maybe I need a reboot? This phone, along with several others run over a VPN. Others on the vpn have lamp lighting up no problem.

I gather you mean you changed the DN of the set.

"then changed DN back to the one I needed"
Why just change it back? you should have assigned a new mailbox to the new DN to test it.

"When you have no spare on hand I might have tried putting the same mailbox behind another set on site such as courtesy to test."

Now I might also try a new mailbox behind another DN such as the courtesy set....kind of where I thought you were going above with a new DN.

"restart the "voicemail""
Did you do that?

"Maybe I need a reboot?"
It's not something you can answer with a Yes or No....as always a reboot may fix some bugs/glitches.

Trying this at Site A where the BCM is instead of site B might prove if a network issue or not but I doubt it is.

First thing when I set up the phone was assign it a new DN, a new mailbox and tested the lamp. It was GOOD. Then I deregistered that DN and assigned the DN I needed and tested the lamp with a voice message. No lamp, no message for you. After that I decided to delete the mailbox and change DN of the extension I needed. Nothing seemed to work. Orginally this DN was a digital phone, I converted it to an IP phone and moved the user off site. I was thinking maybe the system is confused.

There is only 1 BCM in question. Setting the alternate extension for message waiting lamp did not work.

I did not think to stop and restart call pilot. Other than that a reboot and then what else can I do?

I had assumed because your using VPN the sets were offsite.

Looks like corrupted DNitus

-Maybe Set Copy one port to other?
-On Norstar putting an X7208 in place of any other set would sometimes clear a bug.
-Restart voicemail
-Reboot
-Restore from a backup

Outta Ammo!

I scheduled a reboot for tonight. With set relocation on, all sorts of wacky stuff.

Is a scheduled reboot any better or worse than just pulling the power cord?

Yep, on any PC or alike the hardware would rather keep running then have to start and stop all the time or have it's temps changed too.

Scheduling was a good idea, I always book my myself to go to site next morning just in case.
I call in early that morning to make sure AA or a Mailbox answers so I know all is cool.

the scheduled reboot resulted in the system hanging (not fully booted). Phones flashing, PRI down. Had to physically flip switch and test.

Don't know about the lamp yet. Will advise shortly.

ok lamp works! thanks.

will post another weird issue that you'll enjoy

Do you think there is a preferred method to transfer a DN from an IP phone back to a t7316? I have to do that. Last time resulted in corruption and reboot to clear it.

Should I turn off set relocation, de-register DN of IP phone, then change DN all from element manager? Looking to have least disruption and no headache. if possible.
