No mail showing up?

Hi...I can connect to the mail server with user/pass but no mail comes in even though i know there is some there. Any help guys?

Sendmail puts the users mail in /var/spool/mail/username when username is the name of a user on your system. If you see a file with a users name, then mail is coming into your server. For users to be able to get there mail. you needs to have a POP3 or IMAP server running. Most linux distros come with these and run as daemons under xinetd. There is no configuring at all for pop3 or imap, you just need to have them enabled at start up.

Thx 4 the help. Both services r started and still no mail. Also, there is only root in the /var/spool/mail folder as u suggested. Would this have something to do with it in the M4 setup:

Um....I'm guessing this is your first sendmail box. It's not fun, I'll warn you.

dnl means Do Not Load, in other words, you're commenting out the line that you put dnl on, so anything beyond that point is irrelevant.

Can you post up your full sendmail.mc file? Perhaps we can help you then. Also, is my.domain.com a cutsie replacement for your real domain name, or is that what was in the file, and you were just leaving it?

Comment it out by putting &quot;dnl &quot; in front of it or delete it all together. This line tells sendmail to only look for e-mail from the local machine so all you will get is stuff like log reports to root. You could put your ip instead of 127.0.0.1 but why bother.

FYI dnl = delete through new line
It prevents &quot;gaps&quot; in the sendmail.cf file when generated from sendmail.mc with the m4 preprocessor.
