We are using a backup mail/mx service, and for some reason after an all-afternoon power outage yesterday, we did not get any messages.

According to the backup mail provider, they received mail and sent them out way when our Exchange server was back up, but we didn't get anything. We have checked that the proper DNS settings are correct. Any ideas why we aren't getting any mail from them?

Also what's weird is that if we telnet to our mail server and send something to ourselves, we don;t get anything. Any ideas here as well?

Thanks

Check the queues on your Exchange server and see if there is a bunch of messages pending or waiting for delivery. If so, stop and restart the SMTP service.
