Put this on another forum as well, not sure which one is supposed to go

3 Dell computers
2-workstations (p3 w. XP)
1-laptop (p3 with Xp)
1-wireless Truemobile wx6215d router

Without any notice or purposeful action, there is no internet.
Take the router away from equation and internet works. ISP is Surewest
No returns on any pinging.
Switched out cables

Any Ideas, any help would be appreicated. thanks

Has it ever worked with the router? Some ISPs lock down communications to a specific mac address.

I guess its importan to note that the intial problem was Firewall wasnt letting anything thru, McCafee, basically causing no internet. McCaffee firewall was uninstalled because no adjustment was being allowed to the settings. Event hough logged in as Admin.

Is the XP Firewall on?

Is your wireless using your regular IP addresses?

What IP's are you using?

How do you assign your IP numbers?

How is your router working?

Try Rebooting the Cable modem or whatever.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

-I didnt think to check XP firwall
-Using Ip addresses as dictated by ISP
using DHCP to assign Ip addresse for others
-Not sure i understand what u mean by how router is working other its placement. From wall to modem to router to computer
-I rebooted modem

Thanks.

XP firewall was on, disabled that, still no internet connection thru router.

-Under network properties went to TCP/IP
-Set to find ip adrress automatically
Dns server automatically
D-HCP enabled under advanced
-No automtic gateway entered.
-IP address when I do an ipconfig was getting strange ip of 169.254.68.0. Have no idea where its pulling that IP from. Shouldnt it be something like 192.168.2.1?? Does that have to be entered manually when going thru router or is it coorect to ahve it set to auto like I already do?
-Tried doing an ipconfig /release but says nothing and just repeats the same message as when I do an ipconfig
-Rebooted modem, router, & tower.
-It works without router fine, so I assume a new router is in order. If it isnt hardware what other setting could it be??
-I should note that the documentation cannot be located to view settings through a browser? In fact whatever is being done through a browser with router connected wont work.
-Take router out it works. Thanks

Replaced router with Linksys and it WORKS!!

Thanks to all!
