I've read the stuff over at chicagotechnet.com and can't
seem to find what it is that page is telling me. Something
about disable the "use default gateway on remote network". The thing is i need to be able to access all computers on the
network through the vpn however i still lose internet at local client. Any direction on this matter much appreciated.

Also, if someone can tell me "exactly" where to find this "use default gateway on remote network" that would be of some help in the future too i'm sure.

Thank You

if uncheck "use default gateway on remote network" option doesn't work for your situation and you need to be able to access all computers on the network through the vpn, and you are using windows vpn, you may modify the routing table. If you would like to how, post the routing table here by using route command. We will figure out it.

What is the network configuration? I had this same problem with my home network until I purchased a LinkSys Cable/DSL Router. Once I installed that, all worked well.

I hope you find this post helpful. Please let me know if it was.

Mark

Did you set up the whole VPN installation yourself, or did someone else do it? The reason I ask is that I know that here the VPN connections (such as me connecting from home to the office) are set to explicitly deny local Internet access at the client while the VPN connection is active. If you didn't set up whatever is controlling your VPN connections, you might check with the person that did to see if they have any particular policies in place.

I set up the VPN myself Crobin
but i have since solved the
internet issue and am stuck on
this other one i have. It is
that I can not access any other
computers on the network \\workstation1
I can only access the actual Domain Controller
machine...Any ideas

Hi,

You can find it on VPN properties, TCP/IP, advanced....But DO NOT disable use default gateway on remote network. You have to configure your client IE to browse to internet via your Proxy. If you disable that option, your pc becomes a gateway for hacker to access your network. I put RRAS policy so even they disable it, they can't connect to internet if they don't set their IE (with vpn) to use our proxy.

you can't access other machines except DC:
1. is your home pc member of the domain? if it isn't and you don't want it, rename the workgroup same as yourdomain.com. Add dns suffix: yourdomain.com
2. On your VPN server (I guess your DC also), make sure that you enable broadcast name resolution and use internal NIC to obtain dhcp, dns and wins.

Well the unfortunate thing is that
I have broadcast name resolution on.
I am unable to view other machines
on the network using \\192.168.*.* either.

I feel as if i am missing something just
not sure what it is

what is the network ID at the office and home?

Office is blahblah.com
Home is HOME workgroup

I think that is what you were asking me

No, but it helps. Rename your workgroup at home to blahblah.com and add the dns suffix blahblah.com

network ID = your subnet. Your office uses 192.168/16, do not use 192.168.xx at home, use 10.x.x.x or 172.x.x.x
