I have recently lost access to both floppy disk drives simultaneously on the IODU/C's (NT5D61) in both cores of an Option 61C. I have replaced the floppy disks after formatiing them in DOS & disabled & re-enabled the CMDU's in LD 137. No help. Since this happened to BOTH floppies at the SAME TIME I doubt it is a cabeling issue. Does anyone out there have a clue?? Also, I noticed Nortel's Circuit Card Description & Installation NTP 553-3001-211 does not have any of the core cards in it. Where can these cards be found in Nortel's documentation?
Thanx
Lenny

planning and eng manuals, i'll check that tomorrow. does the switch backup to the hd? i can't think of a reason for both to fail at the same time.. i would split the cores and replace the 1st one, and get it up and reloaded, before i had a power glitch.. what rls are you on? in the later upgrades, their is an option to load the data base from the active side.. after you have done all the other steps in the upgrade, instead of loading from the floppy. might save your cookies.. no one card that i can think of could be a point of failure

Thanx John. I'm running 2911 Rls 25.30 soon to be upgraded to Succession 4.0

There was a problem with IODU/C's RLS 7 to 13 that when power was cycled on them with floppy disk in unit the drives would not work after power restored. The IODU/C's needed to be reseated without disk in drives. Then they worked okay. There was and advance replacement but it expired in Oct 2004. Ref Bulletin PAA 2003-0351.

Thanx jbrown1217,
After making this post I found refrence to to this exact same thing on Nortel's website. I opened a tickett with Nortel & the engineer did not make specific reference to this nor did he have me perform the reseat procedure but he did advise upgrading the IODU/C's with our software upgrade. We still are not backing up to floppy though so I may try this one.

Also, I still have not found where in the abundance of NTP's the Core card descriptors are. The engineere reccomended the I & M 3-book set NTP's: 553-3001-500, 510 & 520. but I have not yet been able to locate these.

Thanx Again
Lenny
