I've had an issue with 2003 and getting external emails.

I checked DNSStuff and validated the MX record, then attempted to telnet into the
server port 25. Kicks me out every time.

Ran portqry and received the following report.

Starting portqry.exe -n 192.168.200.192 -e 25 -p TCP ...

Querying target system called:

192.168.200.192

Attempting to resolve IP address to a name...

IP address resolved to pugetsound.office.local

querying...

TCP port 25 (smtp service): LISTENING

Data returned from port:

portqry.exe -n 192.168.200.192 -e 25 -p TCP exits with return code 0x00000000.

I had made some changes in the exchange server settings, but am having a senior moment and can't recall what I changed. To bad SBS doesn't have Restore Points like XP.

I applied service pack 1 last night, a suggestion from another forum, and everything is broken now. I have had my server reports sent to my inbox. Now I get Bad Reqest (Invalid Hostname)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could be just a DNS issue.

Try adding an entry into your HOSTS file to force local resolution of the IP address.

pugetsound.office.local 192.168.200.192

Thanks Nathen.

I applied the change and can now resolve.

I still cannot receive email. The queues are empty.

What would you try now?

In SBS2003 right? try to re run the internet connection wizard and set up from scratch.
Worth a try if you haven't already

If you're using the ISA portion of SBS, you'll want to run the Secure Mail Server wizard.
