I, too, was distressed as an old time DOS user (and I mean old time 3.0 ish)...it is still available, but you will find it under "Programs", "Accessories", "Command Prompt C:?"...whew! It took me a bit to find it, but what a relief it was to find it. Not to worry...
Lpt1 is still a valid device (still refers to the first lpt port) As far as the dos prompt goes you can get to 2 differant versions of it. If you type "command" from the run dialog you get a dos prompt that is similar to the traditional dos prompt (dos 8.3 nameing convention), if you type "cmd" from the run dialog you get a more up to date dos prompt.
Correction -- "command.com" starts a DOS emulator. "cmd.exe" isn't a DOS prompt it all. It's a Windows NT command prompt which happens to have commands similar to DOS, but it is /not/ DOS.
