No domain server error message

We have a judge that uses a laptop and logs onto our NT and Novell network via a pcmcia card.....After he enters his password, he gets the error 'No domain server was available to validate your password. You may not be able to access some network resources', BUT he IS able to access the novell server AND NT, but is aggravated by this message, and wants it to go away...

I tried a USB ethernet adapter to see if maybe the pcmcia card was the problem; no change.

Anybody know what to do??

I did see that and that was pretty much all I saw, but that did not help me. Thanks for trying anyways...
