Hi Nandakumar !

Try login in via telnet and check if u got the "dtsrc"
subsystem running (u can do this using
"lssrc -s dtsrc " command ), if it is not then try starting it using the command "startsrc -s dtsrc". If it is allready running u can try stopping it using the "stopsrc -s dtsrc" and then restarting it using "startsrc -s dtsrc" command. Try this and let me know,

Blue screen and an X usually means that the network is messed up or
DNS is messed up.
Try checking network interfaces (like hostname, IP address). Remember
these should never be changed with CDE is running. Also remember that you
can add an /etc/netsvc.conf file with the line hosts=local which may help
name resolution. Make sure to check /etc/hosts and your hostname .

However, if the CDE hangs at blue screen even though all names are resolved,
the network is stable, the filesystems are not full, and enough paging space
exists. The MANPATH in /etc/environment has been modified. As root, using
your preferred editor, fix it.

Other Troubleshooting things to look for
errpt -a | more (look for network errors or ethernet card errors) #-)
ps -ef | grep dtlogin
kill -9 the - daemon and then all the processes that are running for dtlogins

cd /var/dt
and remove Xerrors and Xpid files
then restart the rc.dt from etc...and check that the demons are there...

Make sure no filesystems are full with the df -k especially / and /tmp
and /var
Look at the error files in Xerrors file also in the /.dt the startlog and errorlog.

lssrc -s xfs (to check for font server..
ps -ef | grep X /usr/bin/X11/xfs /usr/bin/aixterm /usr/X11/bin

Also check these logs for problems...
/var/dt/Xerrors
$HOME/.dt/startlog
/tmp/xlogfile

If you have a problem with login try running manually after checking the logs.
/usr/dt/bin/dtlogin -debug 10 | tee /tmp/mylogfile......
REMEMBER that if you run in debug mode, you must first stop all current
dtlogin processes. Be sure all CDE users logged out, before killing or they
may lose data.

Hi!!

I migrated AIX 4.3.3 from 4.2.1 the other day. During that process - after rebooting automatically by AIX, the console was disappeared and became gray screen except mouse pointer. But everthing is ok, just the console is the problem.

Refer to this document, it looks strange about these logs..

How do I have to do?
Thanks in advance..

Not sure ..........just a few thoughts

I am sure you ran lppchk -v and lppchk -c
and you have made sure that your graphics adapter is supported
in 4.3.3

The following graphic adapters are not supported on AIX Version 4.3:

POWER GTO (TM) Accelerator Adapter
POWER Gt1 (TM) Graphic Adapter 1 Bit
POWER Gt1b ISO Graphic Adapter 1 Bit
POWER Gt1x Graphic Adapter
2780 High-Performance 8-bit 3D Color Graphics Processor
2781 High-Performance 24-bit 3D Color Graphics Processor
2782 24 bit Z-Buffer Solid Rendering Option
2783 24 bit Color Graphics Frame Buffer Upgrade

NOTE: If you have a non-IBM graphics adapter, consult the product's documentation
for compatibility with AIX Version 4.3

----------------
I am sure you did the oslevel to be sure you really are at 4.3 and don't have any bogus filesets....and that you used the update cd to add some patches?

There were some bugs in early 4.3.3 for graphics...but I have not seen the Atom error before

You might have an environment variable XNLSPATH set to
non-existent path? Or the LANG variable what is it set to? Sometimes
change to LANG=C helps?

Not sure what else to try...maybe someone else has a clue?
Good luck.

Thank you, aixqueen.
As your advice, I checked all the things then I changed LANG variable. Now my console is great, however, it is possible to happen(no display on console) after i install a ptf and to not reboot?

It is not cause, then it's because LANG variable, i think..

You're great, aixqueen !!
