No Citrix server on specified address - using Windows XP 1

We have several pcs accessing a server at a different location using Citrix. The server is specified with an IP address.

All machines can access the server EXCEPT one. It is the only machine running Windows XP Pro. It attempts to connect, but after a while it gets this error - There is not Citrix server on the specified address.

Even after a reinstall of Citrix we were not able to connect.
 
What kind of troubleshooting have you done? From a command prompt try pinging the IP address. If that works try pinging the name.
 
What protocol are you using? TCP/IP, HTTP-TCP/IP, etc. If it is HTTP then can you telnet to the server on port 80? How about 1494?
 
verify PC has the proper gateway settings, if there is a local firewall on PC, check that. Uninstall citrix client, reboot, and reinstall citrix client.

these are just a few of the basic things to check.
 
We have uninstalled and reinstalled Citrix with no result.
When we ping the IP address it does not connect. The server name didn't connect either.

We are using TCP/IP.

We have checked the gateway settings and they are correct. We are going to check on whether the built in firewall has been activated.
 
are you using and alternate address?

There are two TCP/IP addresses for this location. The last set of digits is different by one, and neither one will connect.

There are several other Citrix locations that we can connect to without any problem.
 
ok first thing is first, let me verify the facts:

1) you have 1 pc out of a grou of PC's that won't connect to Citrix.

2) you have verified this PC is on the same LAN segment as the other working PC's, that speed/duplex is correct, IP/subnet/Gateway are all accurate? (if you have a switch, you should log into it and verify the port the PC is connected to for any errors)

3) you can PING other PC's on the same LAN segment from the PC in question?

4) you can PING the Citrix server(s) by IP address from the PC in question (if not, can you ping citrix servers from other PC's?)

5) What type of firewall are you using at this remote site, does the firewall have sufficient licenses to enable the appropriate number of NAT trnaslations and outbound connections? Does the firewall block any ranges?

6) if you change the IP address on the PC itself to something else that is a known good IP, does everything work fine?
 
The solution came down to deleting a WAN setup that should not have been there. Immediately after removing it, the laptop was able to connect to the Citrix server that it had problems with. The IP address shown in the WAN was the address for that Citrix server.
