Hi there!

I'm using CIL with NIU through Ethernet, but I have a big LAN that works no good. Then, i need something safer: a direct connection.

I have also SIUs on my MDs but...:

Can a SIU (connected directly to external equipment) and a NIU (conected through Ethernet) work together in the same LIM? (I remember to read something about that in ALEX).
Can in different LIMs?
Can you use the same NIU for CIL through Ethernet and for CIL to an external equipment next to LIM (both of them together)?
For direct connection with SIU, the cabling goes directly from SIU to the PC (RS232) or do you need something else?

And the best question....If you have SIU and NIU, what is the best way to have both type of CIL? SIU+NIU or only NIU?
I have to choose and I want to do it right.

Thx for help!

P.D. My MDs versions are all BC10, and I know CIL on HDU with NIUs, but in BC11 :(

Am using the SIU with a 2 lim md110, and its conected directly to a pc, teh only thing that u should take in to account here is that the pc has to always be on or you will lose the CIL data, i still havent founf a away through my pc if it was turned off for any reasone (electrical power failure) how can i have the pc as soon as the power comes bacl to open winfiol and then go to the CIL assigned channel automaticaly? the cable conecation between the SIU and the pc is the same cable as between the pc and the IPU.

Yes.

Yes.

Any Serial V.24 cable will work fine
And the best question....If you have SIU and NIU, what is the best way to have both type of CIL? SIU+NIU or only NIU?
As your network is not reliable, Use Serial Link & if possible run the billing system on two diffrent Pc's simultaneously.
Can you use the same NIU for CIL through Ethernet and for CIL to an external equipment next to LIM (both of them together)?
Bit tricky one,I never tried but I think it will work for sure as On the NIU you can send MML commands simultaneously through Network as well as serial port. So it should work simultaneously.

I would put the serial connection as back-up of the NIU. It will work when the ethernet were down.
But if you are going to have a serial link, get a buffer to avoid loossing data if the PC has a power failure.
Anywere are you sure the serial cable is the same for NIU than for SIU? I don't think so.

Well...here again.
Asked a friend that has the SIU working with CIL, and told me that the SIU is not connected directly to the PC but ther is a unit called T010002VXG (???), and from there 3 cabling: one to IPU (for módem), another to the SIU, and the last one to a FBOXV24/1 without connectors (it is connected inside that strange unit) and from there (the FBOXV24/1), 2 cabling, one to modem and the other to the PC.

Alex show something like that, but there is not the T010002VXG unit...and the FBOX is FBOXV24/5.
Also shows the connection but with a LFU.

Another friend gave me several cabling for SIUs that I tryed to make working on my MD (i have the SIU installed but not the T010002VXG unit or the LFU), but I couldn't. One has two Ericsson connectors, others only one....

Now I have to make the CIL through SIU , but I'm not sure about what to buy for it:
A cable for SIU direct to PC? (Does it exists? Doesn't need any filter?)
The T010002VXG unit and all the cabling that has my friend?
LFU and all the cabling?
Another job? ;-)

I have a NIU with one cabling from NIU DIRECTLY to the PC. It is very simple!!! Why not the SIU?? (or yes and I don't know...).

Again...thank you all for being there!!

You need an special cable for the SIU.
You can find the reference in ALEX. There are diffent possibilities
