Hi,
I just migrate from old file server (running Solaris 7) to new one (running Redhat Linux). I've got all services running OK including NIS as well as NFS except this one...

.. when somebodoy try to login to one of our solaris machine (running as NIS & NFS client)... it says "No directory, login with =/" ... i already check the /etc/exports at the new server and the solaris box is there with rw option.

at the same time at the log in new server (when the user try to login to the solaris box)... it says

ypserv[745]: refused connect from 152.xx.xx.xx:32859 to procedure ypproc_match

..a ll this problem only occur to solaris box.. all linux box (NFS & NIS client installed) its OK and works perfectly... any advice?

There are a few things to look at.

First, is the client running all of the services for NIS. Try ypwhich to see which server it is bound to. If that does not work user ypinit -c to initialize and start the client. If all of that looks OK and the login still gives the no home directory error. Check the auto.home map with ypcat -k auto.home from the client. Is the home directory for the problem login there and does that directory exist? Is the automounter running? Try ps -ef |grep autofs to see if it is. Usually the problem for me has been that the services are not running on the client or I have a communication problem with the master. Does your /etc/nsswitch.conf say file nis dns on the hosts line?? Can your client nslookup the master by hostname and ip?? Let us know how it goes.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I'll try all your suggestion. The problem still there...

try ypwhich.. seems OK..

try ypinit -c ... run OK... then again try ypwhich ..seems OK

try ypcat -k auto.home ..seems OK

try ps -ef | grep autofs..seems OK.. aumountd is running

/etc/nsswitch.conf got the right entry ...nis..dns

i can nslookup the master ..both using ip & name..

any more advice? really stuck here!
