NIS Aix passwd expiry

Hi,
I need help!
We have NIS configured in Aix.When i setup a user in NIS and when the user logs in first time,he/she won't be asked to change passwd on first logon.When i put passwd lenth(8) restriction on this user,it does not come into effect.he/she can change passwd(yppasswd) with 4 letter word.Is there any procedure to fix this?or am i missing something here.

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

AIX does not enforce the rules on passwords (such as aging, composition etc.) on a NIS client. This works fine with LDAP though.
