Is there any reason I can't or shouldn't use the SP CWS NIM master as the master for all AIX machines in our environment?

Depends on the number of nodes, If you have a few frames or alot of nodes you should have a couple boot install servers eg 1 per 10-16 nodes

The only problem i see is if you have to restore all node1 bootserver would be very slow in restoreing more the 8 nodes at a time so like christos said 1 server per 10 to 16 nodes. Also if you have two or 3 frames i would have a second cws incase one goes down.
good luck hope this helps

There are only 6 high nodes in two frames so that is not a problem. Should I setup a separate master for non-SP machines?

Hi,

It can be done but you will get in trouble when setup_server
is run next time, because it seems to clean up any
machine definition not set in the SDR. (I haven't
tracked down whether there is any possibility to
prevent this.) So if you want to do continous maintenance
over NIM, you shouldn't use the CW. setup_server doesn't
touch additional resource definitions.

Rudy
