I'm trying to setup NIM to serve out a mksysb image to a remote client. The client creation, mksysb resource and spot resource all complete successfully, but with the following error:

NFS option sec=sys:none is NOT supported

When I boot the client,it connects over the network to the NIM server, and starts loading the kernel, but when it reaches LED code 610 the lpar then 888's (888 102 700 0c5). The NIM redbook seems to indicate that 610 is for an nfs issue, which leads me back to the NFS error above.

anyone have any ideas ?

Did you exported filesystem where your mksysb resides physically not link. Sometimes when you have link then you will see LED 610, 611 or 613.

Suppose,
You have mksysb in /images filesystem and you have link from /images to /export/nim. Now you have /export/nim exported to client you are restoring but /images is not exported to client then you will see this problem.

If it is not exported then after exporting you have restart installation.

are you trying to create an lpar using a mksysb from nim master?

have you run smitty nim_bosinst before booting off the network using the new lpar profile?

thanks, guys. I figured it out. I was using a spot that was pointing to a mksysb image, instead I used a spot image from the base dvd image, and I was able to boot the lpar just fine to the nim image.
