Night Cover Confusion... 2

I have an Avaya PARTNER (it's fairly old). I am certianly no expert on it!

My Night cover used to pick up after 1 ring and give our message about being closed etc, etc, etc... Then if you knew an extension it would let you go there to check your voice mail or contact an extension (if you knew it) of someone who might still be in the office after hours.

This has changed (I don't know how, but we do have a receptionist who is curious about all things electronic and has been known to play around with the phone system). Now the night cover picks up, but you can no longer get to any extensions. It gives a message about that feature not being enabled.

How can I fix this

fairly old partner could mean Partner II which could also mean that youlost the programming after a power outage.
What time and date is on your display, if it says Jan 1 some old year then you will need to reprogram everything from scratch.
when you dial intercom 777 does your voicemail answer properly or do you get a busy signal, busy = bad

Displays are all fine and Intercom 777 works great.

I really think it's an experimenting receptionist......

and maybe the type of voicemail you are using, Partner voicemails answer with their type usually
"welcome to Pantner Mail VS" or something like that when you press the 777

I oftentimes have confused customers change Selector Code 1 to something other than Direct Extension Transfer. If your curious receptionist got in there and messed with Selector Code 1 and/or 2 it could be prohibiting you from being able to transfer to an extension.

When I call in with night cover turned on, and during the recorded message I punch in an extension... The error message is "that selection is disabled". Then it returns to repeat the recorded message.

The system is an older PARTNER voicemail system.

Depending on your definition of "old" it could be two months or 20 years! Go to any display set and push F59 (Feature 59) that will tell you the version of the Partner system.

For the Voicemail what does the hardware look like? With different versions of VM out there, we can't guess what you have by calling it "an older Partner Voicemail system"!

Thanks all,

The selector codes 1 and 2 were zeroed out. I reset them to Direct Extension Transfer and all is OK.

Thanks again
John
