A user here has asked that his phone be blocked from people calling during off hours, instead forcing people only to call during office hours where they will be routed through our receptionist. I have gone into MM and disabled his mailbox's Dial by Name setting, but I cannot find where to disable his extension, 210, from being accessed through the Dial by Extension option we have on our night call menu.

Is this possible on an Option 11C?

Thanks,

Hende

make his class of service personel, then use the more detail key to get to the cannn;t dial by name and cannot dial by dn.. if your using a dial be ext then build out your restriction tables allow 211 212 212 214 ect plus 22 23 .. just build and alow around his number or add his number to the deny, depends on your current list

Another option is for the user to Call forward their phone to the Receptionist. Then they control their destiny. For example, if one evening they need to accept a call, just un-forward.

If they remain Forwarded during the day, the Receptionist can still transfer calls to them, because of the inherant "Secretarial Filtering" feature (the DN you CFW to is the only DN that can bypass your Call Forwarding)

Just getting back to this, after 3 weeks of more pressing problems.

GHTROUT, thanks, but the user wants this done automatically, not manually.

johnpoole, I tried following your post, but got a little lost since I am a novice at this. I checked this users' restriction/permission lists, is that what you were reffering to?

Thanks,

Hende

if you make that users class "personal" then look at the detail list on that class, i no lnoger have mermail so i can't be 100 percent sure but you should be able to block it that way.. BUT you can't block express mail..via a tod that i know of so you may be chasing your tail on this one

Maybe I'm missing the point here. Why have voicemail at all if not to take messages when you're not there, after-hours included? Does the receptionist answer his calls during the day if he's out? Does he use his voicemail at all?

If pushing "Forward" is too complicated for him, set FDN and HUNT to the receptionist's DN and let them decide whether a caller is important enough to leave a voicemail or must have their message scribbled on a "While You Were Out" note.

Steve,

I'm not here trying to figure out the reasoning for his choice, I'm just supposed to do it.

He basically does not want his phone to be called from outside the building using the night call prompt. The people he needs to hear from know his private DID number, anyone else should only be able to reach him by calling during office hours and going through the receptionist. He is trying to eliminate phishing callers after hours that dial by his last name, or that found out his internal extension.

I hope this clears it up. So far, I haven't had any luck with johnpoole's idea, so any other suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,

Hende
