I replaced our ip console 5550 with a 5340 phone and made sure the Class of Service for "Dialled Night Service = Yes" (I assume the Dialled is a typo). I assigned it the key "Night Answer" but when i press it, the display says Not Allowed. I try manually typing in the feature access code for "Dialed Day/Night Service - Activate" and the phone just sits there like its waiting for additional numbers to dial. I can dial "Dialed Day/Night Service - Inquire" and have the phone tell me the current day night mode.

Currently I am using the maintenance command to put the system in night1 or day, so any help would be much appreciated..

thanks!

I forgot to add that this message appears in our logs, but we don't have any type of night bell and don't know why we would need to program this..

FEATURE_ACTIVE: nilfeature, SS4_LINE_BUTTON: 0 Could not perform night answer -- night bell not programmed

Please check COS configuration to make sure 'HCI' options are set for DN = 1301

Dialled is the correct British spelling, the American version is dialed. (you can google this if you like) Dialled vs Dialed

The night answer key is used to answer calls, not switch the service

The activate code is expecting a 0 for day, 1 for Night1, and 2 for Night2

I believe there is now a night service key but not sure

You have a form "Schedule" in release 4.2 that can be used to switch service that is sooooo much more flexible than the maintenance command version

ahh, so the fix is to use a feature access code plus either 0, 1, or 2?

No night service key.

Access via superkey or feature code.

Feature code + single digit 0, 1 or 2

To change the mode of service on a local node:
Lift the handset.
Dial the Dialed Day/Night Service - Activate feature access code.
Do one of the following:
- Press 0 for Day service.
- Press 1 for Night 1 service.
- Press 2 for Night 2 service.
Hang up.

Potentially why its sitting there is because you have a digit conflict and the system is acutally waiting to see if you are going to dial something else. Try hitting # at the end and see if it is still sitting and waiting.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.
